Can I work in the Netherlands on a visa through New Data?
Yes, if there is an assignment. We arrange the application together with Servorg and pass the costs on at cost. Below you will find, per type of visa, which salary threshold applies, what the application costs and what we earn on it.
For the professional
We regularly have assignments that suit an international candidate. Do register, even if nothing on our site matches you right now.
Once there is an assignment, we can help with the visa. Without an assignment we cannot apply for anything: a visa is tied to work, not to a registration.
The routes, side by side
Which route applies depends on your education, your age and how long ago you graduated. We check that case by case, together with Servorg.
These amounts have been looked up and not yet confirmed by New Data. Do not count on them before we have gone through them with you.
Orientation year for graduates
A one-year residence permit to look for work in the Netherlands, straight after finishing a degree or doctorate.
Who it is for: Anyone who graduated or received a doctorate here, or at a designated university abroad.
Gross per monthno salary threshold
The orientation year itself has no salary threshold. Once you find work, the reduced criterion below applies.
Reduced criterion after the orientation year
Anyone starting work within three years of graduating, or straight after the orientation year, falls under a lower salary threshold than a regular highly skilled migrant.
Who it is for: Graduates starting a job within three years of their degree, or after their orientation year.
Gross per month€ 3,122
Highly skilled migrant under 30
The regular highly skilled migrant scheme, at the threshold that applies to anyone under thirty.
Who it is for: Anyone under thirty on the start date of the permit.
Gross per month€ 4,357
Highly skilled migrant aged 30 or over
The same scheme, at the threshold that applies from thirty onwards.
Who it is for: Anyone aged thirty or over on the start date of the permit.
Gross per month€ 5,942
Residence as a self-employed person
A permit to work here as a self-employed person. This is not a salary threshold but a points system: the IND weighs your experience, your business plan and what your work adds to the Netherlands.
Who it is for: Anyone who wants to work here as a freelancer or entrepreneur rather than as an employee.
Gross per monthno salary threshold
A different test from the highly skilled migrant scheme. We look at each case to see whether this is the workable route.
Ankara visa
Turkish nationals fall under a separate regime, under the association agreement between the EEC and Turkey. Both the conditions and the costs differ from every scheme above.
Who it is for: Turkish nationals who want to work or run a business here.
Gross per monthno salary threshold
We deliberately list no amount and no conditions here: this regime has its own fees, which we could not confirm for 2026. We look at it case by case with Servorg.
2026 amounts, gross per month and excluding 8 per cent holiday allowance. Source: AWVN, salary criteria for highly skilled migrants and the 30% ruling 2026, and the IND standard amounts for 2026. Looked up on 11 August 2026.
What is expected of you
A contract of at least six or twelve months, depending on the route.
Forty hours a week.
The salary legally required for your type of visa; that is in the table above.
The advantage almost nobody mentions
If you come in through the orientation year, the reduced criterion applies for as long as you work through us. Move to another employer and that advantage lapses, leaving the regular thresholds. That is a reason for you and for the client to let the collaboration run longer.
For the client
Have you found a strong candidate from abroad but cannot get the visa arranged? We can help. The candidate is then employed by us and works at your organisation.
We have checklists with Servorg that let us establish up front what is and is not possible. That is the first step: first know whether it can be done, then make promises to a candidate.
What it costs
The application runs through Servorg and is passed on at cost. Indicatively between € 500 and € 1,000 at the time of writing. That covers more than the IND fees alone; handling the application takes time too.
The IND also charges a fee for processing the application. What that is in your case we will tell you once it is clear which route applies: those amounts change every year on 1 January.
What we earn on it
€ 10 per hour where the risk is low, and € 20 per hour where the risk largely sits with us. We state that plainly, just as we do with our rates and with the self-employment test. That way you can judge for yourself whether it is fair.
The risk
A visa process can go wrong: an application is refused, a candidate drops out, an assignment ends early. We cover that risk together as well as we can, and what we earn depends on how much of it sits with us. We agree that up front, not afterwards.
Questions internationals ask us
Can I register if there is no assignment right now?
Yes. We regularly have assignments that suit an international candidate, and it helps if we already know you by then. We just cannot apply for a visa without an assignment.
Which salary threshold applies to me?
That depends on your age and on how long ago you graduated. Anyone starting work within three years of graduating, or after the orientation year, falls under the reduced criterion of € 3,122 gross per month. Under thirty it is € 4,357; thirty or over it is € 5,942. All amounts exclude 8 per cent holiday allowance.
What does the application cost?
The application runs through Servorg and is passed on at cost, indicatively between € 500 and € 1,000 at the time of writing. That covers the IND fee and the handling of the application; what the fee is in your case we will tell you once it is clear which route applies.
How many hours do I have to work?
Forty hours a week, on a contract of at least six or twelve months. That is not our choice but a condition attached to the permit.
I am a Turkish national. Does something else apply to me?
Yes. Turkish nationals fall under a separate regime under the association agreement between the EEC and Turkey, with its own conditions and its own fees. We deliberately give no amounts here because we could not confirm them for 2026. We check it case by case with Servorg.
What happens if I move to another employer after a year?
If you came in through the orientation year, the reduced criterion applies for as long as you work through us. Move on and that advantage lapses, leaving the regular thresholds for your age.
Not sure which route fits you? Send us your situation and you will hear what is possible. If the answer is no, you will hear that from us too.
